Autonomous out of the box.
Sporting an on-board Linux computer, this desktop robotics
platform is purpose-engineered for cutting edge computer
science research and educational robotics. REVO 1 is meant
to be reprogrammed to explore potential avenues such as
A* path planning to algorithms like Monte Carlo
Localization. Both built-in odometry and ground-sensing
capabilities means that the REVO 1 is ready to implement
these tasks right out of the box. Capabilities are easily
expandable making the REVO 1 ready for serious autonomous
robotics.
Seeing clearly: Computer vision.
With enough power under the hood the REVO 1 supports state-of-the-art
vision processing in real-time. As the most powerful sensor for robotics,
vision can be used to solve many key challenges, including 3D perception,
position & motion estimation, as well as terrain analysis for autonomous
navigation. With the REVO 1, programmers can delve into one of the hottest
areas of robotics research using the on-board processor or stream it off-board
via the wireless interface for limitless capabilities.
Teamwork ready.
Built-in support for Wi-Fi enables the basis for multi-agent and distributed
('swarm') robotics. The robust networking architecture of Linux simplifies
the complexity in setting up multi-agent communications, and as a desktop
robotics platform, REVO 1 boasts a small enough footprint for both compact
spaces and small laboratories. This platform is prepared for adaptive controls,
on-board learning, prioritized task scheduling and perception-based reasoning.
Lithium power means stamina.
Lithium Polymer batteries offer many advantages over traditional rechargeable power sources. Greater energy density means longer run times and more power to run a variety of sensors simultaneously. Lithium batteries do not lose capacity due to partial discharge cycles, which means your REVO 1 can go further over the life of its battery!
